Michelle, a 21-year-old aspiring actress who had moved from her small Indiana town to Los Angeles after a traumatic senior year of high school, has returned to her hometown for the first time since she left after agreeing to testify against her high school theatre teacher, a man who groomed her when she was 17 and is now facing jail time for his criminal, predatory actions. Over the next couple of days, Michelle slowly comes to grips with what happened to her as she works up the strength to testify, has a confrontation with her emotionally absent alcoholic mother, and ultimately reconnects with an old friend who gives her the support and space she needs.
