At 3,798 metres, Austria’s highest mountain towers over a world in flux. Nearly 225 years after its first ascent, the Großglockner is now a focal point of alpine research. Also for humans, the mountain’s face is changing, the recent closure of the Stüdlgrat due to rockfall is a stark reminder of the risks.
