Overview

The seasoned Captain Mitsos Avgoustis stubbornly refuses to retire. The ocean swell has lodged itself in his mind, and the sea simply will not give him back. For twelve years he has been away from Greece—estranged from his family, at odds with the shipping company, yet bound by unshakable ties to the 22 sailors aboard the cargo ship ATHOS III. Defiant and unwilling to obey, he somehow keeps finding cargo, calling at ports, loading and unloading, silently roaming the waters of the Pacific. Day and night, he battles the relentless gales on the lonely voyages of his mind and heart, where the secret he carries has long since dropped anchor.
